My Story

I’m Matt Black, an award winning filmmaker based in St George, UT.  I specialize in producing high end story based promotional videos.

I started editing videos for production companies in Salt Lake in 2007.  By 2009 my wife and I invested in some cinema cameras and made a name for ourselves filming live events all over Northern Utah.

Wanting to further my knowledge and skills, in 2011 we moved to St George, UT where I attended film school at Dixie State University.  In 2014 I graduated with a Bachelors of Communication with an emphasis in Digital Motion Picture Production.  Also in 2014, I made a documentary about the Boston Marathon entitled “Boston: Still Going Strong” which won best student film at DocUtah International Film Festival.

Between 2013 and 2016 I headed the in-house video production division for ENDEVR where I created many promotional, instructional, and testimonial  videos for three national brands: MyID, Strengthtape, and PureStrength.

Since mid 2016, I have been working full time freelance video production all across the country, while remaining based in St George.  I have ran my own full service productions as well as working as a Camera-Op, Director of Photography, Grip, and Consultant.  I have worked with many different brands including Tuacahn, InfoWest, NorthWest Mutual, Zion Canyon Music Festival, Compass Health, Abbey Inn, ZionNationalPark.com, and many more.
